KIDS SAILING CENTER

The Sailing Club, Naftikos Omilos Hellas, also operates a sailing school for young children.

The Kids Sailing Center is aimed at children aged 5-12 who are either just starting sailing, or already have some experience. The ability to swim is a prerequisite.

In the kids sailing school, children will learn basic concepts of the sport and seamanship with the aim of preparing for their next - competitive or not - sailing steps. The school offers continuing education so children can join at any time throughout the course.

The boats used are mainly Optimists but other types of boats are also included in the fleet, so that children of all body types can be accommodated and develop their sailing skills so they can learn quickly and enjoy the sport throughout their development.

Classes are held every Saturday and Sunday in the following groups.

  • 10:00-12:00
  • 12:00-14:00

Cost: 70 Euro/month

(families that have several members in the Sports Category Schools of the group: 60 Euro/month)

Quarterly cost: 180 Euros (150 Euros for families with several members)

The 3 quarters are defined as follows:

  • October-December
  • January- March
  • April- June

About Sailing Club of Greece

The Sailing or Nautical Club of Greece was founded in 1933.

In 1952 it founded the Hellenic Sailing Federation and currently has 1200 registered elite members. The main purpose of the Club was and still is the systematic cultivation and development of the potential of its athletes for their participation in sports competitions.

Equally important purposes of the Group are the development of a national maritime spirit, the promotion of faith in the sea as an element of life and progress of the nation, the contribution to the spread of private recreational sailing and the participation in every manifestation of love for the sea.

The Group's Facilities
  • The buildings where the reception areas, the funeral parlors and the services of the Group are housed.
  • The port facilities, with berths for sailing vessels belonging to the Members of the Group, cranes for small vessels, storage areas for the relevant components, areas for informative seminars and schools. It also hosts various sailing events and international sports meetings.
  • A fully equipped gym with professional trainers.
  • Triangular and offshore vessels.
  • Boats for disabled people (athletes with disabilities).

The club operates Triangle Sailing Schools including Optimist, Lazer, and Lightning boats, and offshore.

Since its foundation, the Club has organized many World and European Championships. The successes of its athletes in National and International Sailing Races are significant, starting with the first victory and the gold medal it won at the 1960 Rome Olympic Games, the DRAGON type boat "NHREUS" of the N.O.E. with the then heir to the throne Konstantinos and Odysseus Eskitzoglou and Georgios Zaimis as crew. Since then the tradition continues to this day with Olympian Nikos Kaklamanakis.
